Well after Sunday I thought Tuesday run should be nice and easy so I went for a 6.3 mile jog around Excel. The idea was to keep my heart rate in my zone 3 (below 148 BPM, which is fairly easy on the flats and down hills, but a little more difficult on the ups. Still it turned out to be a nice run with the Sun shining and the effort nice and light.
The silly thing was that when I checked my performance afterwards I noticed that I had managed to run 7:55 min miles as an average - the time I was aiming for on Sunday!!
Today (Weds 7th), I did the same run again with Bob (Peers), my training partner at work. we ran the same route but up'ed the pace getting round in a total time of 49:17 - an average of 7:30 m/m (average HR 153BPM. We were going to push through and do a 10 mile loop but I decided to wimp out as my legs are still feeling heavy after Sundays run.

Well thats the end of a really bad weekend. No training on either Thursday (too tired), or Friday - work training. Saturday witnessed me back in the pool at 8am to do a 2700m swim set which was good. Sunday morning I cycled from mine to the start of the 20 miles race I was in for, a total of 16 miles on the bike.
The run was not good as the weather was cold and the wind got harder as the distance went by. I started to feel out of sorts by mile 6 and from there on it got worse, I had started far to quick doing the first few miles in around 7:30 min miles. By mile 10 the pain had set in and I could feel the lack of energy in my body, by mile 14 the need to walk had started and this kicked in around mile 16. So I started walking for a couple of 1/10's and then running to the next mile marker. Lots of people passed me and this had a really bad effect on me mentally, by the 18th mile I was completely done in with absolutely zero energy. However through sheer stupidity I made it to the finish to collapse in a complete heap, and if it wasn't for my friends around me I would have stayed there and slept for quite a while. Still I managed to run the 20 miles in 2:53:00 which wasn't to bad considering, however it was well outside my expected 2:40:00 that I wanted.
I had to make the decision later in the day to resign as Chairman of Tri-Anglia. I can't justify the time it takes as I have a young family who hardly ever see me, what with work and training committments.

Another Day, Another ???
Yesterday was quite a hard day - 9.5 mile run at lunchtime (in 1:14:30), then when I got off the train at 18:40 it was straight off to the Norwich High School for Girls and the weekly Wednesday night swim set. Managed to log 2150m of swimming with drills and set - as instructed by our local coach Kerry. Got home later than normal to be faced with cold pasta which I managed to eat about half of before heading to the snack cupboard.
Today I feel really tired for some reason! So what was going to be a 6.5 mile run at lunchtime is turning into a rest day - still got to recover before Sundays big race, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
